On Wednesday at 7 p.m. on KPRC 2, the KPRC 2 Plus Livestream, and Click2Houston.com, we proudly present: Saving Wildlife: Return to Rwanda, a captivating one-hour special that highlights the remarkable efforts of the Houston Zoo to protect endangered animals in their natural habitats. It’s been nine years since KPRC 2 last visited Rwanda with a team from the Houston Zoo to highlight the important work being done to save the endangered Mountain Gorilla.

This journey takes KPRC 2 anchor Andy Cerota deep into the heart of Africa, nine years after his first visit, where the Houston Zoo has expanded it’s efforts in Rwanda to protect animals in the wild. We explore how the Houston Zoo and it’s conservation partners including the Rwanda Wildlife Conservation Association, the Gorilla Doctors Conservation Heritage Turambe, and the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund are making a tangible difference in preserving the country’s unique wildlife.

As part of an ongoing mission to save species from extinction, the Houston Zoo has long been at the forefront of conservation work in Rwanda. This special not only celebrates their wins and achievements but also serves as a reminder of the critical importance of preserving the country’s delicate ecosystem. KPRC 2 follows the zoo’s team of veterinarians as they work alongside their conservation partners to ensure that critically endangered wildlife including the mountain gorilla and grey-crowned cranes continue to thrive. Their efforts are a testament to the power of collaboration with zoo helping to fund research and various conservation initiatives that include education programs to local communities about the importance of wildlife conservation.

The Houston Zoo team and their Rwandan partners, embody the spirit of hope. They work with unwavering commitment, knowing that every small victory contributes to the larger goal of saving entire ecosystems. We invite you to join us on this incredible journey and witness the transformative work being done to save some of the world’s most iconic and endangered species and the lasting impact on the future of wildlife conservation.

Don’t miss the premiere Wednesday at 7 p.m.
